About Thaumaturge

Posted by Valashi - September 26th, 2015

I'm writing this to introduce my comic book and so there would be one place where you can find the links to it. I started Thaumaturge over a year and a half ago. The reason I started it has to do with my depression/anxiety and PTSD. I was feeling exceptionally hopeless at the time and decided that I needed to give myself some sort of purpose. Ever since I was younger I would create stories in my head, so I came up with a story aimed at helping other people with depression find happiness. My first thought was to write a book; however, I personally don't like to read books because I get bored and distracted too easily. I kind of knew how to draw, which lead me to making a comic book. I really wasn't that great at drawing, but I began watching lots of Youtube videos to learn how to draw. I quickly began working on Thaumaturge. It's funny because I'm studying mechanical engineering, which has little to do with drawing. Because of my schoolwork, though, it took me over a year to finish the first issue. In that time my drawing skills improved a lot, and I actually went back and fixed or redid the first third of my comic.

Though it may be another year before I finish the second issue, I encourage everyone to check out Thaumaturge. Especially if you are someone experiencing depression or any other mental illness. If it weren't for school I'd be able to produce comics much faster. I do like mechanical engineering, but I discovered too late how much I enjoy making comics. I am so anxious and excited to be able to finish the story because it is amazing, and I truly believe it will help people find greater happiness and purpose in their lives.

Underneath you can find the links to my comic. The first one is for comiXology, the second is for Indyplanet where you can order a print copy, and the last one is the Spanish translation on comiXology. I greatly appreciate it if you take the time to check out my comic and share it with friends.
